Welcome to the Research and Evaluation Database

This database contains a list of research and evaluation publications and documents related to the museums, libraries and archives sector.

What do we mean by Research and Evaluation?

Research is any systematic investigation involving a legitimate policy or strategic need, relevant research questions, and robust research methods and analysis to reach new conclusions. The research process and conclusions help increase the stock and flow of knowledge of the sector and inform decision making within the MLA Partnership.

The site also contains Research Briefings. They provide a concise summary of the research and analysis of issues affecting the sector. They are designed to provide research evidence in an accessible format to a varied audience, including policy makers, practitioners and students.

Evaluation is any activity which seeks to determine how far the outputs and outcomes of a project or programme have been met, assess cost-effectiveness and value for money and explore the effectiveness of procedures and delivery
